| Still a student, after the piano, he learned playing organ with Noëlie Pierront. He spent time with the organ circles. | Jean Perrot was substitute organist at Saint-Leu-Saint-Gilles church in Paris until 1962. He worked and obtained to have this fine 3/24 organ, originally built by Clicquot, classified by the "Historical Monuments". | Jean Perrot fut organiste suppléant à l'église Saint-Leu-Saint-Gilles à Paris 1er jusqu'en 1962. | Attracted by the quality and the interest of his articles, Jacques Chailley, Director of the Musicology Department at La Sorbonne - Paris - proposed to Jean Perrot to extend his work to writing a doctoral thesis. What he did gladly. In 1964, Jean Perrot was graduated "ès-lettres" Doctor. His thesis: "THE ORGAN - from its invention in the hellenistic period to the end of the thirteenth century", was published in 1965 by Picard Editions - France. | Séduit par la qualité et l'intérêt historique de ses publications, Jacques Chailley, directeur du département de musicologie à la Sorbonne - Paris, proposa à Jean Perrot d'étendre son travail à une thèse de doctorat, ce qu'il fit volontier. | In order to support his research and hypothesis, Jean Perrot conceived and built a reconstruction of a roman hydraulis organ as well as a small four ranks positive organ of the XIII century. Both instruments were working fine as expected. French TV, A.K.A. ORTF, made a report of this hydraulis organ which was broadcasted in 1962. | Pour étayer ses recherches et hypothèses, Jean Perrot conçu et réalisa une reconstitution d'un orgue hydraulique romain ainsi que celle d'un petit positif de quatre jeux du XIII siècle. Les deux instruments fonctionnèrent parfaitement. La télévision française, l'ORTF, vint faire un reportage sur cet orgue hydraulique qui fut diffusé en 1962. |
